Sikh and Ye shall find

January 25 2016
Hiya!  Ya'alrigh?
This week we had a worldwide missionary broadcast. It was so good. The trainings were all focused on the basics covered in the first 12 weeks training. One of the insights I really took away from it was that the Holy Ghost is the teacher and I am just his tool. I have been trying to be more sensitive to his promptings and guidance.
We also had interviews with President and Sister Stevens! I love them so much. Our discussion was focused on the Atonement and The Fall. We cannot fully appreciate the Atonement until we fully understand The Fall. I enjoyed it a lot and I understood a lot I hadn't before. I am excited to go back to the temple :).
Speaking of temples, on P-day last week we went to a Sikh temple in Ilford. I really enjoyed it. We had to take our shoes off and both the men and women had to cover their heads. There was a room to go pray where they read scriptures and also a kitchen where they served free food. They have 10 gurus which are like gods to them that they pray for guidance from. It was fun :)

Remember our awesome new friends we found last week? Yeah, none of them showed up to their appointments even when we had talked to them the day before and confirmed. But, we had a cool miracle from one of those anyway! We were on our way to the library to meet P- and I had a feeling that he wasn't going to be there. As we were walking in, I saw a man sitting at a table through the window and I had a prompting, 'that is the man you are going to teach.' We walked in, searched the library and P- wasn't there and didn't answer his phone. We counciled together on what we should do. Either go get dinner or go contact a potential friend that lived near by. But again I had the thought, 'that is the man you are going to teach.' so we went and sat next to the man reading at the table. We asked him about the book he was reading and then continued on to a conversation about faith and trials and God. halfway through the conversation I had another prompting thought. 'he is Muslim'. and then later he told us, 'actually I am Muslim' but it didn't surprise me because I already knew. We taught him about the Book of Mormon and he asked how he could get a copy. We gave him one and he said he was interested to read it. We got his phone number and we have been texting him this week. He is reading! :)
Sometimes Heavenly Father makes appointments for us that we don't know about.

We are also working with a man named E-. He is from Albania. I found his number in the phone log and we have called him a couple of times to set appointments but he was always busy. Then on Monday night, he called us and set up an appointment for Tuesday morning! wohoo! We had a great lesson despite his lack of English about keeping the Sabbath day holy, prayer, and God being our loving Heavenly Father.

We also are teaching R-. He is a refferal from the Ilford sisters. He use to live in Ilford a year ago and met the missionaries once. and just moved to Romford. We've only met him once but we had a great lesson on the Apostacy and the Restoration. He had lots of questions about corruption in churches and revisions of the bible. He said at the end that we had given him a lot to ponder about and that he would see us next week.
Something fun we did this week was go to 'Cosmos' with the Relief Society for dinner. I loved it. We also went and sang at Abbcross nursing home. They all loved it . We are going back to sing again in February with Sister Park and the elders and Carl Lee.
We are also preparing a Special Musical fireside on February 7. It is going to be fun. I am singing 'Make Me Whole' and 'Gloria' from the Lamb of God. I hope it all goes well.
I love you!
love, Sister Coleman
